Avari creates a soulful cosmic experience with Sound that is effortless, engaging and invokes a profound knowing within the listener. Each musical composition is carefully crafted from subtle tones and frequencies and developed into hypnotic harmonics, melodies, and grounding vital rhythms that create lush landscapes of sound and vision. The result is unique that experience that guides the listener deeper within their own self to discover their timeless and formless nature.
Avari is a collaboration between Priya Deepika, Drew Martinez, and Russell Feingold and features guest musicians such as Parker Ainsworth and other LA musicians. Each musician brings their gifts and spirit and offers a unique approach to Sound.
Priya Deepika “Beloved Offering of Light”::: The origins are Avari are found in Priya’s experience and training as a sound healer, mediator and human rights lawyer. While retreating from her practicing of law, from 2007 to 2008, Priya completed her training in Sound Voice and Music Healing in San Francisco at the California Institute for Integral Studies. Priya developed a practice of sound healing by integrating contemplative listening, chanting of sacred mantras in Sanskrit and Pali, improvising with raagas (scales) and facilitating mediation with mindful awareness of breath and intention. Priya’s sound healing practice and powerful voice eventually attracted the hearts and souls of her dear friends Parker Ainsworth, Drew Martinez, and Russell Feingold who felt called to join her in facilitating profound sound journeys for their community.
Drew Martinez ::: Drew is a multi-talented creative soul who brings his deep sense of beingness into everything he does. Starting off as a visual artist early in life, his creative drive eventually lead him to music, which quickly became his favorite form of self expression as well as a great source of healing and inspiration. In his early 20′s he had an experience that opened up his understanding of his creative nature and his connection to the universe. “I somehow instantly understood or remembered that everything that arises in reality is a work of art, a creative expression of the one true Self. From then on I could never see reality the same way. Now my goal in life is to deepen that recognition and share it with others and I believe that music is one of the most powerful forms of communication.” Drew brings together his productions skills and years of drumming experience to lay the foundation and heartbeat for Avari’s multidimensional sound.
Russell Feingold ::: Russell is a modern day Shaman and master healer. Born with the profound gift of being highly energetically sensitive, Russell had a mystical experience at the age of twenty that awakened him to a reality he never could have imagined. Life then took him on a journey of discovering how to integrate his awakening into daily life, work and relationships. He now expertly guides others on the path of integration. Russell guides listeners deeper into themselves through his diverse wind and light instruments. He plays into the natural flow of each sound progression and accents the mood with impeccable timing.
Parker Ainsworth::: Singer songwriter Parker Ainsworth brings the art of storytelling through music forth from a space that audiences can feel from the first chord. When asked to describe his signature sound Parker uses the term Patchwork Soul as he believes to be an acoustic blend of indie-folk, americana, blues and spoken word, all of the music he grew up listening to stitched into a blanket of sounds that comes across as original yet strangely familiar. Parker brings his individual personality to the canvas of Avari with sensitivity and an awareness of how to carry the listeners through each sound experience.
Avari honors Sound as creator of intention and reality, otherwise known in Sanskrit as Nada Brahma. We honor the ancient and spiritual wisdom of all traditions knowing that all paths truly lead to same place of Oneness. Avari means “of the Heavens” and has linguistic roots in the Americas. The music of Avari is created for Sound Healing. Each sound healing session incorporates a method of facilitated guided meditation with sound as the vehicle of exploration.
